Advocate High Court

Hassan is a dispute resolution specialist having worked on several significant local and international disputes. Hassan regularly appears and represents clients before the Lahore High Court and Islamabad High Court, and in lower courts and tribunals. Hassan, being Advocate High Court, has a prolific dispute resolution experience representing clients in several diverse matters including matters concerning accountability and anti-bribery, company, commercial, civil, constitutional, competition, taxation, labour and employment, intellectual property, medical negligence, and drug regulatory matters.

In addition to his litigation experience, Hassan is an experienced international arbitration specialist having worked on several significant international commercial arbitrations (ICC, LCIA, & DIFC); and international investment treaty arbitrations (ICSID and PCA-UNCITRAL) involving the State of Pakistan and other state-owned entities.

Apart from his dispute resolution experience, Hassan regularly handles non-contentious corporate transaction and advisory work ranging from complex corporate structures to advising, among other things, on corporate mergers & acquisitions, and real estate acquisitions. Hassan regularly advises local and foreign clients (including Public listed companies, Fintechs and NBFCs) on regulatory compliances, capital markets, merger control, public procurement as well as public-private partnership Hassan is known for providing strategic advice to business on structuring transactions and drafting complex transactional documents.

Hassan is the co-founder of the Pakistan Chapter of Energy Related Arbitration Practitioners (ENERAP), a worldwide forum that aims to promote the development of arbitration through the study of the characteristics, complexities and challenges involved in commercial and investment arbitration proceedings in specific relation to the energy sector. He is the representative of ICC YAF North Asia Chapter for its 2021-2023 Mandate. He has also worked as National Reporter for Pakistan as far as ICCA’s (International Council for Commercial Arbitration) “physical hearing” project and authored the Pakistan chapter, which is available here

Hassan received his LL.M. (International Commercial Arbitration Law) degree from Stockholm University, and his B.A.LL.B. degree from Sheikh Ahmed Hassan School of Law, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) where he studied throughout on a scholarship.
