We assist clients with all their construction related legal needs, ranging from drafting of project documentation, financing documents, vetting, negotiations, arbitrations and litigation. Our practice includes advising clients on bid documents, contract terms and conditions, joint ventures, affiliations and business structuring, licensing, land use, environmental and safety issues and financing.
Highlights and Experience
Mr. Shahid Hamid, our Patron, has remained primary counsel for:
- Husnain Group (before the division of the Group)
- Counsel for the contractor, Chaudry Munir & Sons, assisted by Asma Hamid in the ‘Islamabad Airport Case’. The case was ultimately decided in favour of the contractor and is reported as ‘Asif Vardag vs. Federation of Pakistan- 2014 SCMR 676’; the case required extensive knowledge of and expertise in FIDIC principles and regulatory procedures requiring compliance related to PPRA, PEC, etc.;
- Counsel for NESPAK in the Orange Line case heard by the Lahore High Court initially and in appeal by a larger Bench of the Supreme Court; the case and ultimately decided in favour of GoP/NESPAK by the Supreme Court and is reported as ‘NESPAK vs. Kamil Khan Mumtaz - 2018 SCMR 211’;
- counsel for the contractor Habib Construction in the Signal Free Corridor Case in the Lahore High Court and ultimately in the Supreme Court which decided in favour of Government of Punjab and the contractor and is reported as ‘LDA vs. Imrana Tiwana - 2015 SCMR 1739’; in charge of sales, supervision of construction and legal documents for Saroba Housing Scheme in the late '70s to '80s in Lahore
Construction & FIDIC
Representing interests in initiating or defending constitutional and civil litigation, FIDIC related litigation, and advisory work, pertaining to FIDIC contracts & claims, disputes, arbitration envisioned thereunder, and remit of the national regulator i.e. Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
Highways
Representing interests in initiating and defending constitutional and civil litigation pertaining to actions of the National Highway Authority (NHA), extent of jurisdiction of NHA vis a vis Provincial and Local highways and road networks, and the attendant rights and liabilities adjacent to such highways and roads i.e. building lines and rights of ways.
